Purpose of TBF/Naz Book Club:

We want to read books written by the Teen Book Festival authors and have the opportunity to discuss these books with others.  Of course, we see this as a social opportunity, but our primary purpose is to come together to work through, process, savor and share our personal responses to the literature (Rosenblatt, 1938).

Ground Rules:

1.    Keep it fun!   The discussions should inspire new ideas and a deeper appreciation for those who love to read YA lit.

2.    Be a good listener; let the conversation develop.  Don’t be afraid of silences or to sit back and enjoy the experience.

3.    Eliminate guilt.  It is okay if you miss a meeting.   You can still come to the next one.   It’s even okay if you didn’t read the whole book.  Not finishing a book isn’t a crime.

4.    We will meet one Friday lunch hour each month during the Spring 2011 semester.

5.    At the start of the meeting, we may decide to form smaller discussion groups based on book choices, but we can also decide to convene as a large group – even if we haven’t all read the same book.

6.    We will reserve the last 10 minutes of each meeting to confirm our book selections for the following month.
